This is the actual letter that I sent to some pestering attorney who was up in my ass about paying some bill. The nerve of it all.

Dear Richard D. Seierstad:

I just wanted to personally thank you for stand-up performance in your bill collecting duties. I would also like to commend you on your staff. ROSE made it a point to call my house daily if not several times a day to remind me of the amount owed to U Of M Physicians. That is dedication. I know my roommates enjoyed her calls very much. Especially the hang-up calls. Oh the silly games people play.

Despite the fact that I am a recent graduate who is currently looking for employment, money seems to flow into my pockets like you would not believe. I often find $500 in my pocket or just sitting on my dresser. However, I was advised to wait on payment of this bill as in many cases Hospitals often try to get payment immediately without waiting for the insurance company to make a payment. This obviously wasn’t the case this time. The insurance company must have paid their portion, and left this remainder to me, or actually to my parents, the people paying the bills. As you see, I was the victim of the injury, thus the bills were in my name. But alas, I am not the individual paying the bills. A simple misunderstanding really.

Regardless of the reasoning behind the delay, this is obviously my error and I will pay the bill post-haste. I am sorry to have involved you in this matter. I’m sure you have better things to do. Thank you for understanding and please give my regards to ROSE.

Your fan,

d.
